It was reported in the Intelligence Report, the quarterly publication by the Southern Poverty Law Center, that on this date in 2008 in Paramus, New Jersey, Peter T. Lisa, 55, an unemployed man from Paramus, was charged with bias intimidation for allegedly vandalizing and setting on fire the residence of a man Lisa may have thought was black. Bergen County, New Jersey prosecutor John L. Molinelli’s February 25, 2008, press release announced the arrest of Lisa on other charges, namely, Aggravated Sexual Assault (first degree crime), Sexual Assault (second degree crime), Manufacturing Child Pornography (second degree crime), Endangering the Welfare of a Child (third degree crime), and Possession of Child Pornography (fourth degree crime), for his alleged role in the rape of a ten-year-old boy by Lisa’s girlfriend, Carmini Laloo, 46, of Clifton. Peter Lisa and Kenneth Speiser, 51, of Paterson, New Jersey, stand accused of providing physical and verbal assistance in the alleged videotaped child rape as Laloo engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim which is said to have taken place Haledon and Clifton, New Jersey during the months of October, November and December in 2002.
In Rolling Hills Estates, California, on this date in 2011, it was discovered that someone spray-painted racist and Satanic words and images on the walls of the Rolling Hills Seventh Day Adventist Church on Highridge Road which at the time had a significant Chinese-American membership. Sergeant Michael Thomas of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said, "The walls were spray-painted with a pentagram, and also derogatory language directred toward people of Chinese descent who are members of this organization." The sheriff's department investigated this incident as a possible hate crime.
