National & Regional Average Yearly Unemployment Rates in Hate Group Communities (HGCs) and non-Hate Group Communities (nonHGCs)

Notes: A Hate Group Community (HGC) is a place that had a hate group active in a given year as reported by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). HGCs are usually counties. However, because the Commonwealth of Virigia has both counties and independent cities, these independent cities could also be HGCs for any given year provided they had an active hate group. A small number of SPLC-identified hate groups were excluded when their location could not be pinpointed to a county or a city; these include hate groups that are active statewide.
